This week IDEA1, a massive mixed use project located in the East Village, will move in its first long-term creative office Tenant, SEER Interactive. QFC Real Estate President Steve Martini, Associate Emmett Cahill, and their client SEER Interactive, a digital marketing company, scoured the earth for creative office space in Downtown San Diego that would convey the type of company they truly are. Philadelphia based SEER and their highly driven founder and CEO, Wil Reynolds, are innovators who are constantly designing new ways to educate their customers. Is it a coincidence that IDEA stands for innovation, design, education and the arts? We think not. Reynolds was very adamant about finding space that would embody the type of company they are and most importantly…… make his employees happy. To say that he accomplished his goal would be an understatement.
About the project….IDEA1 consists of 295 apartments, a 7,000 SF office space and a retail component. Additionally IDEA1 offers a fitness center, clubhouse, and a stunning 13,000 square foot atrium where tenants and visitors will be able to attend concerts, community talks, and movie screenings. Another incredible feature this project has to offer is the “IDEA Box”. This is an all glass enclosure which can be used for conferences, meetings, or movies. The “smart glass” turns into a 10-by-17- foot video screen all which overlooks the 13,000 SF atrium.
“The hunt”: Martini, Cahill, and Reynolds scoured the Downtown market looking for unique space, which is hard to come by today. Reynolds quickly realized how much the up and coming East Village neighborhood has to offer and how great it is becoming. The East Village District of Downtown was traditionally a series of warehouses and vacant lots. New residential towers, modern coffee bars, upscale restaurants, a law school, and a state-of-the-art baseball stadium are the new “norm”. East Village is quickly becoming a hot spot for many of San Diego’s young professionals and if you’ve spent time in the area you’d understand why. Take Makers Quarter– the newest edition to San Diego’s vibrant downtown which is nestled within the East Village corridor with close proximity to Golden Hill, South Park, Sherman Heights, and Barrio Logan. This collaborative community is a hangout for many artists and entrepreneurs and the subsequent restaurants, breweries, businesses and schools that follow. Martini loves the East Village and believes it has unlimited potential. He, along with QFC Real Estate Vice President Peter Wright, have both signed many deals with clients to secure space neighboring IDEA1. Martini represents CrossFit Invictus who locked down an 11,000 square foot facility nearby and Wright represents Urban Discovery Academy , a signed them to a new 30,000 SF charter school lease…which are all within a few blocks of one another. The IDEA1 space could revolutionize the concept of creative space and Martini is excited to introduce his client as the first ever tenant in the ground floor space. More to come from QFC Real Estate so stay tuned.
